Race Report June 26--rain out

Actually, tornadoes ran us out out of Grand Forks, ND.  We had just finished hot laps, and were getting ready for a great night of racing–when the tornado sirens went off.  The Rivers City Speedway announcer said, in his calmest voice, "Tonight's races are canceled due to a tornado warning.  Please calmly head the to exits...."

I had driven over separately with my wife, and we beat a hasty retreat in our car east, across the Red River and into Minnesota.  Team Weaver, with Bill Smith in charge, buttoned up our No. 16 and put the hammer down on the big Chevy truck.  Bill literally outran a severe storm across western Minnesota.  The weather was oncoming at 30 mph, and we rolled at 80 plus.  Even the highway patrols left people alone as we streamed east toward safer, clearer skies.

That's two rainouts in a row (June 21 was a rain out too).  Oh well, we'll be back Sunday night at Bemidji Speedway to try our luck with Mother Nature.
