Off Season excitement
Team Weaver is humming on all cylinders this off season. Crew chief Bill Smith is heading up the new (2006) Midwest Modified development. Our V-8 modified will give us much more range in terms of where we can race. Steve Beach from Eagle Chassis is doing the tinwork now in December, and we hope to get the car home by Christmas so we can work on the drive train and engine. Skyler is nose to the grindstone at school (he'd better be, ha!) for his senior year. I occasionally have to nag him about too much hunting and fishing.... But hey, I was the same way back in the day.
I've been traveling to schools, libraries and national conventions (most recently in San Antonio) to talk about SATURDAY NIGHT DIRT and the Motornovels. The reaction has been overwhelmingly great. Our most recent invitation to "come and bring the car" is from Tennessee. It's fun to say, "Okay, let's see if can't make that happen." Team Weaver will definitely will be in the Little Falls, MN schools in February; Mankato, MN schools in March; and in Iowa City in April for a multi-school tour.
Some things are happening with SND that I'd love to talk about, but can't at the moment. All I can say is there is serious interest from Hollywood. The pathway from book to film is a long and tricky--a bunch things can go wrong--but it has happened to me twice before, so why not a third time? Stay tuned. I'll let you know more when I can.
I was very excited when I heard that you are coming to our school, and I heard that you had a race car so that kinda gives you a little spark on your arrival.(By the way you are visiting my school in May.) I have not read any of your books yet but i am looking forward to reading some of your books... I read that you hunted and fished, I love hunting and fishing also...

I love to hunt and fish, too. I used to live in Alaska and my dad even shot moose in my front yard. We ate mooseburgers for a year.

I hear that you are coming to my school. I as well enjoy fishing. I am wanting to be an author when I get older. I will have to ask that you give me some advice. I am looking for some books that you wrote but, I can not find any. I realy want to read Claws. I looking foward to meeting you.

i love hunting iv shoot 12 deer and 6 doe 15 ducks and my dad loves it to he is a tattoo convention mc he gets to travel around the world and do tattoo conventions then on the side while he is there he take advantage of the hunting

i got excited when i heard you were going to visit us i like listening to people especially authors its interesting and i hope to see you soon i like hunting and fishing and also maybe when i grow up i might be a nascar racer

Hey i heard you like hunting. i am not really into hunting but i like the jonas brothers . they are really cool . if you ever wont to hear them , just go to disney channel.com or 290 or 291 on your tv.

Hi Mr.Weaver,i have read alot about you and apperentlly you like hunting,i personally like hunting but i dont really do it.But one thing i do like is the Jonas Brothers!Well from what i have read about Jacks comment is that your coming ot our school in may.That would be really awesome and cool!

Hi Mr.Weever I have been hunting before and caugth a deer and
and caughta deer and five birds while camping. i do not like to eat deer or birds ut i do hunt them.

Steve Beach? Is he from Missouri by any chance? If he is, I watch him race here at the local dirt tracks in Missouri. Tracks such as Callaway Raceways in Fulton, MO, and Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO. He runs a FASTRACK Late Model usually, and does very well.
