From Wreck to Racer

We took a chance buying the wrecked ModFour.  Now we faced getting it rebuilt in time for the racing season.  First stop was the Schreiber Farm chassis shop, east of Fergus Falls, Minnesota.  Skip and (son) Quinn run a big row crop operation (corn and beans), and do custom welding and chassis work in their shop during the winter.  Quinn is a self-taught genius.  He had made the "jig", or chassis set-up contraption, and had built our car originally.  He remembered everything about it, plus had all the stats, dimensions plus extra parts on file.  He agree to install a whole new front end.  We delivered the stripped down car (see wintery photo) and Quinn took over from there.  That took about a month, after which we returned to find a great-look bare chassis....  Then we hauled the car back to Bemidji to Fastlane Auto (photos) where Brian and Mary Strand, a racing couple, took over.  Brian did all the tin work (photos), and Mary the lettering.  As spring approached, we had a good looking race car coming together, and couldn't resist taking it around to show it off, including to NW Tech, and then to a spring car show (photo).
